By now, summer is halfway over and vacations are wrapping up – but the fun doesn’t have to be over! Below are a few awesome events in York County happening between now and the time school starts back. Go check them out!
Home Sweet Home at the Museum of York County – (credit: www.visityorkcounty.com) An interactive nature-themed exhibit packed with family fun activities that highlight ways that you can discover, enjoy and help protect our natural world. Imaginations go wild as you join Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl and enjoy outdoor adventures inside. Fish in a stream, row a boat, crawl through a hollow log, climb a rock wall, play with animal costumes and puppets, plant a garden, have a backyard picnic and discover the wildlife living in your own backyard – all this awaits families this summer.
This event begins in June and lasts through September. It takes place Tuesday – Saturday.

The Greenway’s Summer Concert Series – (credit: www.visityorkcounty.com) Come and enjoy an evening of music out on the Greenway at the Comporium Amphitheater!
Bring your friends, family, a blanket or chair and a picnic dinner. Beer, wine and sodas will be available for purchase. No glass or outside alcohol allowed. Food trucks will be available on site! Well-behaved dogs on six-foot leashes are always welcome on the Greenway. The bands will begin at 6:30pm and last until 8:30pm.
$5 for non-members, free for members.
Special event parking fee is $5 per car.
Annual passes are available for purchase at $30 and $45 for members and non-members, respectively.

BMX Opening Ceremony & Community Kickoff – (credit: www.visityorkcounty.com) July 22, 2017 from 6-10 pm – Join us for the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships’ Opening Ceremonies in Old Town Rock Hill! Help us welcome the thousands of BMX riders and their families to South Carolina and the United States, and kick off the first U.S. hosted World Championship in 16 years! The opening ceremony program will begin at 6pm at Rock Hill’s Fountain Park, featuring a presentation of flags from participating countries, international food trucks (40+!), live music, bike safety programs, kid zone and rides, BMX stunt show, autographs by elite BMX riders and other attractions.
